History of artist:  Juan Gris was a Cubist painter and sculptor born in Madrid who lived and worked in France most of his life. He had a singular style within the Cubist movement, harmonizing colors rather than using monotones creating pure, distinct forms. His works are among the movement's most unique. The original painting is oil on panel and completed in 1917.
