History of original painting:  Sacred Mountain was completed in 1892 as an oil on canvas painting. It is a mythic place of ancient sacrifice to a lost god.  It borrows an idol from Easter Island thousands of miles to the East and death heads from Maori body decorations thousands of miles to the West.
